Concert 4:
IN SYNC
featuring SynC and electroacoustic artists from the University of Western Sydney
This free concert features some of the best young performers from the Campbelltown region under inspirational conductor, David Griffin.  The music for this concert is based upon the cultural melting pot that is very much part of South-Western Sydney: from Terry Riley's hypnotic Olson III to Louis Andriessen's concise reinterpretation of Beethoven's masterworks.
Concerts featuring both guitar and piano are rare in the Australian performance calendars.  Pianist Simon Docking is one of Australia's hottest young concert pianists.  Now resident of Canada, his astounding virtuosity is mixed with a breathtaking emotional range and an ability to transcend the mundane.  Melbourne-based guitarist Ken Murray's musical range extends from the most challenging contemporary compositions to salsa music of Latin America.  He has given countless recitals around the globe and is especially noted for his commitment to Australian music.

Simon and Ken will come together to perform an ecletic, engaging mix of music from around the globe.  This multimedia concert will feature visual artworks created in response to the music by students from the University of Western Sydney.
Performers Michael Atherton and Garth Paine are at the pinnacles of their careers as sound artists, performers, researchers and sonic explorers.  Their music explores the intersection between acoustic and electronic sound sources, between human improvisation and computer-controlled automation.  It is uniquely experiential, visceral, immersive type of music - very much relevant to our own experience in today's society where so much of our existence is dependent upon mechanical and electronic process.

SynC will be joined in concert by several UWS electronic arts students, presenting new works involving electronic, electroacoustic sculpting of sonic events through structured improvisation.
Terry Riley
Anne Boyd
Join John Peart and Terry Riley for lunch.  Anne Boyd, one of Australia's most well respected composers, will host a gourmet lunch featuring these two internationally celebrated artists in which they will discuss their creative work and collaborations.
John Peart's major survey exhibition, John Peart Paintings 1964-2004, that has toured Australia since 2004, will provide a stunning visual context in which to participate in this event.
